Neck Pain Relief in West Chester, OH

At Align Chiropractic in West Chester, OH, one of the most common conditions we see is neck pain.

Studies show that 20-70% of U.S. adults will experience neck pain at some point in their lives. Women are 1.5 times more likely to suffer from neck pain than men. And up to 30% of neck pain cases become chronic, lasting months or even years. That’s why addressing neck pain early is essential —before it becomes a long-term issue.

Why Neck Pain Is So Common

Your neck supports the full weight of your head—an average of 12 pounds. But lifestyle habits like poor posture and excessive screen time put additional stress on the spine. For every inch your head moves forward, it adds 10 pounds of pressure to your neck! That means if your head is just 2 inches in front of your shoulders, your neck is carrying 32 pounds of stress. Over time, this extra strain can lead to chronic neck pain, stiffness, and even joint degeneration.

Types of Neck Pain: Acute vs. Chronic

Acute Neck Pain: This type follows an injury, such as a car accident, sports injury, or fall. The sooner you seek treatment, the faster you can heal and prevent long-term damage. Chronic Neck Pain: If pain lasts longer than three months, it is considered chronic. Chronic cases often take longer to resolve because the body has adapted to dysfunction over time. That’s why early intervention is key to lasting relief.

The Root Cause of Neck Pain

Neck pain can stem from joints, muscles, ligaments, or discs in the cervical spine. Each structure produces a unique type of pain—so identifying the source is critical for effective treatment. At Align Chiropractic, we specialize in pinpointing and correcting the root cause—not just masking the symptoms.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a chiropractor in West Chester, OH that helps with neck pain?

Yes! Our team of chiropractors specialize in finding the root cause of neck pain and providing targeted care to correct it. At Align Chiropractic, we’ve helped countless patients eliminate neck pain for good.

When should you see a chiropractor for neck pain?

As soon as possible! The longer you wait, the harder it becomes to fix the
problem. Addressing it early can prevent long-term damage and restore full mobility.

Is it okay to crack my own neck?

No! Cracking your own neck does not fix subluxation and can actually cause
more instability. Chiropractors are trained to provide safe, precise adjustments that restore proper alignment.

Does insurance cover chiropractic care for neck pain?

Yes! Most insurance plans cover chiropractic care. At Align Chiropractic, we contact insurance companies directly to verify your benefits and outline your coverage before starting your care plan.

Align is different, it is a chiropractor’s office but more than that it is a professional group who truly care about their patients. You actually feel like you are with friends, people who’s really care about your health.

“Can Chiropractic Care Stop Neck Pain?”

We hear this question quite frequently. Here’s some of what we do at Align Chiropractic in West Chester, OH.

Comprehensive Consultation and Exam
Before treatment begins, we conduct a thorough consultation and physical
exam. This allows us to understand your history, lifestyle, and symptoms in
detail. We perform chiropractic, orthopedic, and functional movement testing to determine:

⁃ Whether your pain is caused by muscles, joints, nerves, or discs

⁃ If postural habits or spinal misalignments are contributing to your condition

⁃ The best, most targeted approach for lasting relief

Targeted Chiropractic Adjustments
One of the most common causes of neck pain is subluxation—a misalignment of the spine.

Subluxations put pressure on nerves, leading to pain, stiffness, and
inflammation. Over time, untreated subluxations can lead to arthritis and
permanent joint degeneration.

At Align Chiropractic, we use precise chiropractic adjustments to:
Remove pressure from the nerves
Restore proper movement to the spine
Reduce inflammation and pain

If nerve irritation in the cervical spine is the root cause of your neck pain, no
medication or exercise will fix it. Only a chiropractic adjustment can correct
subluxation and provide lasting relief.

Cervical Spinal Decompression
For disc injuries or nerve-related neck pain, we use cervical spinal
decompression therapy. A bulging or herniated disc can press on nerves,
leading to:
Sharp, radiating pain
Numbness or tingling in the arms and hands
Muscle weakness

Our gentle, non-invasive decompression therapy works by:
Reducing pressure on nerves
Pulling the disc back into its normal position
Relieving pain and inflammation

We combine spinal decompression with chiropractic adjustments and corrective exercises for long-term relief.

Shockwave Therapy (EPAT)
At Align Chiropractic, we use EPAT Shockwave Therapy—a cutting-edge
treatment for chronic neck pain. Shockwave therapy works by sending high-
energy acoustic waves into the affected tissues. This stimulates cellular repair, reduces inflammation, and speeds up healing.

✅ Breaks up scar tissue
✅ Increases blood circulation
✅ Relieves deep, chronic muscle tension

This therapy is quick, painless, and highly effective for stubborn, long-term neck pain.

Common Causes of Neck Pain

1. Subluxation (Spinal Misalignment)
When the bones in your neck shift out of place, they compress the nerves and cause pain. Chiropractic adjustments correct the alignment, eliminating pressure on the nervous system.

2. Tech Neck
Constantly looking down at your phone or computer? Forward head posture
places enormous stress on the cervical spine. At Align Chiropractic, we help
correct posture and strengthen the neck to prevent future issues.

3. Osteoarthritis
This wear-and-tear condition develops from poor posture and spinal
misalignment. We use chiropractic care, exercise, and spinal decompression to slow arthritis progression and reduce pain.

4. Bulging or Herniated Cervical Discs
Disc injuries cause sharp, radiating pain that can extend into the arms and
hands. We use decompression therapy and chiropractic adjustments to restore normal disc function and relieve pressure.

5. Whiplash
Car accidents often cause whiplash, leading to neck pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. Without treatment, whiplash injuries can cause long-term pain and dysfunction. Chiropractic care restores proper motion and prevents chronic problems from developing.

What To Expect

Our team has helped thousands of people transform their health and reach their full health potential.

We understand when you are experiencing pain, discomfort and other limitations poor health can place on your life, it can leave you feeling hopeless and frustrated, especially when your current care options just aren’t working. From the moment you arrive, you will feel heard, empowered and encouraged so you may experience true health and do what you love.

Pre Visit

Since chiropractic care involves a series of visits, with each one building on the ones before, it’s important for you to feel comfortable right from the start.

Once you book your appointment, whether online or over the phone with a team member, you’ll immediately be texted and emailed the new patient paperwork. Our doctors spend a great deal of time going through your paperwork together as a team before your visit, so we’re ready as soon as you arrive.

1st Visit

New patients often remark on how friendly the Align Chiropractic office is. Our office also employs the latest technologies: from digital X-rays to a computerized note tracking system. This is important because our goal is to offer state-of-the-art chiropractic care in a comfortable surrounding.

We Explain Everything First
The purpose of your consultation with the doctor is to discuss your health goals and see if chiropractic is likely to help you. If it looks promising, a thorough examination will help identify the cause of your problem. The examination will include orthopedic tests, Range of Motion, and a posture exam. Depending on the results of the exam X-rays will be taken to confirm your condition or diagnosis. Patients appreciate that we explain everything in advance!

2nd & 3rd Visits

After we study your health history and correlate our examination findings, we’ll make recommendations designed to help you get and keep your health. You doctor will then orally go over the findings and give you your first chiropractic adjustment. This is usually attended to on your second visit, which will be the following day.

Report of Findings
The following visit is called the Report of Findings or Doctors Report. This is where we will thoroughly educate and explain your problem and how chiropractic will help. Due to patient volume, the education part of the report is done in a group and the results and insurance financials are then gone over individually.

This is usually attended to on your third visit. This three-visit approach accomplishes several things:

  • Reduces the length of your first visit
  • Gives us time to correlate our findings
  • Avoids overloading you with too much information
  • Allows time to review any financial or care plan questions in detail
  • In certain situations, and in the professional judgment of the doctors we sometimes make exceptions. It just depends on your unique situation.
Long Term

We focus on the nervous system, structural correction, and addressing the cause which allows the body to heal itself. We do believe life-time chiropractic is absolutely beneficial. The Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics reported that “patients who went to DCs (doctors of chiropractic) as their primary care providers had 43% decreases in hospital admissions, 52% reductions in pharmaceutical costs and 43% fewer outpatient surgeries and procedures.” We have hundreds of patients who chose to continue getting adjusted year after year because they experience the benefits of strong immune systems, less sickness, better sleep, more energy, reduced symptoms, and overall better health. We also have patients who get adjusted for a specific issue, experience releif, and decide not to move forward with a wellness or maintenance plan. We high five, let them know we’re thankful to be part of their health journey, and make it clear we’re available with open arms should they ever need care again. We hope you forever take care of your nervous system and overall health, but ultimately, you are in charge of making your own health decisions. We always desire to be on your team and to encourage you along the way.
