Neuropathy is a frustrating and often debilitating condition affecting millions of people. Whether it’s tingling, burning, numbness, or sharp, electric-like pain, neuropathy can make everyday activities—like walking, driving, or even sleeping—feel unbearable.
At Align Chiropractic in West Chester, OH, we specialize in natural, non- invasive solutions to help relieve neuropathy pain, restore nerve function, and improve quality of life. Rather than masking symptoms with medications, we focus on addressing the root cause of nerve damage to promote healing and long-term relief.
What Is Neuropathy?
Neuropathy, or peripheral neuropathy, occurs when nerves outside the brain and spinal cord become damaged or dysfunctional. This disrupts communication between the nervous system and the rest of the body, leading to numbness, tingling, burning sensations, muscle weakness, and chronic
pain.
Common Symptoms of Neuropathy:
• Numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or legs
• Burning or sharp pain that worsens at night
• Muscle weakness or difficulty walking
• Loss of coordination and balance
• Sensitivity to touch
• Cold or hot sensations in the affected area
If left untreated, neuropathy can worsen over time, leading to severe pain, loss of mobility, and even permanent nerve damage. The key to managing neuropathy is early intervention and effective, targeted treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions About Chiropractic Care for Neuropathy
1. Can a chiropractor really help with neuropathy in the feet and legs?
Yes, chiropractors can help relieve neuropathy in the feet and legs by improving spinal alignment and restoring proper nerve function. Many patients experience less tingling, burning, and numbness after consistent chiropractic adjustments.
2. What is the best chiropractic treatment for peripheral neuropathy?
The most effective chiropractic treatments for peripheral neuropathy often include spinal adjustments, nerve stimulation therapies, and lifestyle recommendations. These methods work together to reduce nerve interference and promote healing.
3. How long does it take for chiropractic care to relieve neuropathy symptoms?
Some patients start feeling relief within a few weeks, while others may need ongoing care depending on the severity and cause of their neuropathy. Consistency is key to getting long-term results and preventing symptoms from returning.
4. Is chiropractic care safe for people with diabetic neuropathy?
Yes, chiropractic care is a safe, drug-free option for people with diabetic neuropathy. While it doesn’t treat diabetes itself, chiropractic adjustments can help reduce nerve pressure and improve circulation, which may ease pain and discomfort.
5. Why choose chiropractic care for neuropathy instead of medication?
Chiropractic care addresses the root cause of nerve dysfunction, not just the symptoms. Unlike medications that only mask pain, chiropractic works to improve nerve health naturally—without side effects or dependency.
Align is different, it is a chiropractor’s office but more than that it is a professional group who truly care about their patients. You actually feel like you are with friends, people who’s really care about your health.

“Can Chiropractic Care Help With Neuropathy?”
Traditional medical treatments for neuropathy often rely on pain medications, anti-inflammatory drugs, and nerve blockers. While these can provide temporary relief, they fail to address the root cause of the problem and come with unwanted side effects.
At Align Chiropractic, our approach focuses on restoring nerve function, improving circulation, and reducing pressure on the nervous system— helping your body heal naturally.
1. Chiropractic Adjustments for Nerve Function
Spinal misalignments (subluxations) can compress nerves, reducing their ability to send signals properly. Chiropractic adjustments restore alignment, relieve pressure on the nervous system, and promote proper nerve function. This allows the brain and body to communicate more effectively, reducing neuropathic pain and improving overall health.
2. Spinal Decompression via Manual Traction Adjustments
For neuropathy caused by herniated discs, spinal stenosis, or pinched nerves, spinal decompression therapy is a game-changer.
✔ Gently stretches the spine to relieve nerve compression
✔ Increases circulation to the affected nerves, promoting healing
✔ Reduces pain, numbness, and tingling in the arms and legs
Many patients experience significant relief after just a few sessions as decompression removes pressure from irritated nerves and helps restore function.
3. EPAT/Shockwave Therapy to Stimulate Nerve Healing
Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology (EPAT), also known as Shockwave Therapy, is a cutting-edge, FDA-approved treatment that stimulates tissue repair and reduces pain.
✔ Boosts circulation to damaged nerves
✔ Reduces inflammation that contributes to nerve pain
✔ Encourages regeneration of nerve tissue
Patients with diabetic neuropathy, sciatica, or chronic nerve pain often see
dramatic improvements in sensation and function with this non-invasive
therapy.
4. Neuropathy-Specific Adjustments and Rehab Consult
Weak, imbalanced muscles can contribute to nerve irritation, poor circulation, and reduced mobility. At Align Chiropractic, we design customized neuropathy care plans to target affected areas and improve balance and coordination.
✔ Targeted strengthening exercises to support nerve function
✔ Balance training to reduce fall risk and improve mobility
✔ Stretching routines to relieve nerve tension and enhance flexibility
By combining chiropractic, decompression, EPAT therapy, and exercise recommendations, we create a comprehensive neuropathy treatment plan that helps patients get lasting relief.
Common Causes of Neuropathy
Several factors contribute to neuropathy, with diabetes being the most common cause. However, other health conditions and lifestyle factors can also lead to nerve damage.
✔ Diabetes – High blood sugar levels damage nerves over time, leading to diabetic neuropathy.
✔ Spinal Misalignment – Pinched nerves in the spine can cause nerve dysfunction and pain.
✔ Autoimmune Disorders – Conditions like rheumatoid arthritis or lupus can attack the nervous system.
✔ Vitamin Deficiencies – Lack of B vitamins, especially B12, can lead to nerve damage.
✔ Infections & Toxins – Viral infections, exposure to heavy metals, or chemotherapy can cause nerve pain.
✔ Repetitive Motion Injuries – Conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome result from nerve compression.
The Benefits of Chiropractic Care for Neuropathy
• Drug-Free Pain Relief – Avoid the risks and side effects of medication.
• Increased Circulation – More oxygen and nutrients to heal damaged
nerves.
• Improved Mobility & Balance – Regain movement and reduce fall risk.
• Long-Term Healing – Address the root cause, not just symptoms.

From the moment you arrive, you will feel heard, empowered and encouraged so you may experience true health and do what you love.
Pre Visit
Since chiropractic care involves a series of visits, with each one building on the ones before, it’s important for you to feel comfortable right from the start.
Once you book your appointment, whether online or over the phone with a team member, you’ll immediately be texted and emailed the new patient paperwork. Our doctors spend a great deal of time going through your paperwork together as a team before your visit, so we’re ready as soon as you arrive.
1st Visit
New patients often remark on how friendly the Align Chiropractic office is. Our office also employs the latest technologies: from digital X-rays to a computerized note tracking system. This is important because our goal is to offer state-of-the-art chiropractic care in a comfortable surrounding.
We Explain Everything First
The purpose of your consultation with the doctor is to discuss your health goals and see if chiropractic is likely to help you. If it looks promising, a thorough examination will help identify the cause of your problem. The examination will include orthopedic tests, Range of Motion, and a posture exam. Depending on the results of the exam X-rays will be taken to confirm your condition or diagnosis. Patients appreciate that we explain everything in advance!
2nd & 3rd Visits
After we study your health history and correlate our examination findings, we’ll make recommendations designed to help you get and keep your health. You doctor will then orally go over the findings and give you your first chiropractic adjustment. This is usually attended to on your second visit, which will be the following day.
Report of Findings
The following visit is called the Report of Findings or Doctors Report. This is where we will thoroughly educate and explain your problem and how chiropractic will help. Due to patient volume, the education part of the report is done in a group and the results and insurance financials are then gone over individually.
This is usually attended to on your third visit. This three-visit approach accomplishes several things:
- Reduces the length of your first visit
- Gives us time to correlate our findings
- Avoids overloading you with too much information
- Allows time to review any financial or care plan questions in detail
- In certain situations, and in the professional judgment of the doctors we sometimes make exceptions. It just depends on your unique situation.
Long Term
We focus on the nervous system, structural correction, and addressing the cause which allows the body to heal itself. We do believe life-time chiropractic is absolutely beneficial. The Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics reported that “patients who went to DCs (doctors of chiropractic) as their primary care providers had 43% decreases in hospital admissions, 52% reductions in pharmaceutical costs and 43% fewer outpatient surgeries and procedures.” We have hundreds of patients who chose to continue getting adjusted year after year because they experience the benefits of strong immune systems, less sickness, better sleep, more energy, reduced symptoms, and overall better health. We also have patients who get adjusted for a specific issue, experience releif, and decide not to move forward with a wellness or maintenance plan. We high five, let them know we’re thankful to be part of their health journey, and make it clear we’re available with open arms should they ever need care again. We hope you forever take care of your nervous system and overall health, but ultimately, you are in charge of making your own health decisions. We always desire to be on your team and to encourage you along the way.
